    With the operation of the Centre the Academy is the home leader in respect of study for improvement of efficiency of operation of engines and hydraulic systems of machines and for reduction of the negative impact of fumes and petroleum-derivative waste on environment, based on analysis of fuel and hydraulic fluids used by businesses.

    The Laboratory offers complex studies determining the existing condition of individual elements, forecasted variation trend and indicating the method of use of individual hydraulic fluids thus reducing the operation costs.

    1. Micro Carbon Residue  Tester MCRT-160

    Alcor’s MCRT-160 provides safe, simple measurement of a petroleum product’s tendency to thermally degrade and form coke under high temperature pyrolyzing conditions. Its powerful digital control over all ASTM D4530 test steps delivers results equivalent to Conradson Carbon

    (ASTM D 189) with significantly less inconvenience or fuss.

    2. Setaclean Total Sediment Tester

    A compact bench-mounted unit for determining the insoluble material content of distillate and residual fuel oils.

    ·         Measures sediment up to 0.5%m/m

    ·         Sample viscosities up to 130mm2/s


    3. High Temperature Viscosity Baths TV 2000

    Tamson viscometer is specially designed for tests that require ultra-precise temperature control, or processes that need to be followed visually, e.g. viscometry, thermometer calibration, crystal growing, density and reaction rate measurement, etc.


    4. Spectroil M

    The Spectroil M/C-W is a compact, rugged, transportable and easy to use optical spectrometer designed specifically for wear particle analysis, contaminants and additives in lubricants, hydraulic fluids and coolants. They use the time-tested and reliable rotating disc electrode (RDE) technique to measure quantities of dissolved and suspended fine particles in natural or synthetic petroleum based products and coolants.


    5. HFRR (High Frequency Reciprocating Rig)

    The High Frequency Reciprocating Rig (HFRR) is a microprocessor-controlled reciprocating friction and wear test system which provides a fast, repeatable assessment of the performance of fuels and lubricants. It is particularly suitable for wear testing relatively poor lubricants such as diesel fuels and for boundary friction measurements of engine oils, greases and other compounds.


    6. SLFA-2800 Sulfur-in-Oil Analysers

    The new SLFA-2800 investigates measurement results with an amazing precision. Apparatus provides safe, simple measurement of sulfur content. It can measure between 0 – 9.999 % sulfur content in a sample. Consequently the equipment is applicable in more specific fields. Either a very small sulfur content as in diesel oil or a high sulfur content as in heavy oil can be determined.


    7. Anton Paar density meter model DMA 4500

    The DMA 4500 density measuring module determines a liquid’s density or concentration. The measurement is based on the proven oscillating U-tube principle ensuring highly accurate density values.


    8. Morphologi G3

    The Morphologi G3 provides an advanced yet easy to use particle characterization tool for the measurement of particle size and particle shape from 0.5 microns to several millimeters. In one instrument it offers the flexibility required for R&D and troubleshooting applications, and user-independent results and the validation required for automated QC analysis. The technique is often used in conjunction with laser diffraction particle sizing, to gain a deeper understanding of product or process behavior.

    9. Zetasizer Nano ZS

    The Zetasizer Nano ZS is a high performance two angle particle and molecular size analyzer for the enhanced detection of aggregates and measurement of small or dilute samples, and samples at very low or high concentration using dynamic light scattering with ‘NIBS’ optics. The ZSP also incorporates a zeta potential analyzer that uses electrophoretic light scattering for particles, molecules and surfaces, and a molecular weight analyzer using static light scattering.

    Parameters measured:
    Particle and molecule size, translational diffusion, electrophoretic mobility, zeta potential of particles at high and low concentrations, viscosity and viscoelasticity of protein and polymer solutions, concentration, MW, A2, kD.

    An elemental analyzer designed for demanding applications – the SPECTRO XEPOS energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (ED-XRF). The SPECTRO XEPOS for optical emission and x-ray fluorescence spectrometry delivers high sensitivity and accuracy for the entire element range from Na-U.


    11.TRACE 1300 Gas Chromatograph with Flame Ionization Detector

    The Thermo Scientific TRACE1300 Gas Chromatograph is the latest technology breakthrough conceived to substantially elevate performance in QA/QC and routine laboratories. Engineered around newly developed proprietary injectors and detectors,

    available as user-exchangeable, instant connect modules, these GC platforms offer greater flexibility over previous instrumentation and drastically reduce the cost of ownership.

    The Instant Connect-FID (Flame Ionization Detector) offers the highest sensitivity and a wide dynamic range with rapid acquisition speed, making it ideal for extremely fast GC applications.


    12. Spraytec – laser diffraction system

    Malvern Instrument’s Spraytec laser diffraction system allows measurement of spray particle and spray droplet size distributions in real-time for more efficient product development of sprays and aerosols. It has been specifically designed to address the unique requirements for spray characterization and deliver robust, reproducible droplet size data.


    13. Testing diesel components BOSCH EPS 200

    The automatic, safe and economic way to test diesel components. Delivery-quantity-based injector tests with integrated suction and purging program/device for common-rail injectors. 


    14. CID 510 - Cetane Ignition Delay

    Highest Precision in Determining Derived Cetane Number of Diesel Fuel Oils. Accurate analysis of Derived Cetane Number (DCN) is an important tool for diesel and biodiesel fuel blenders and refineries to maintain fuel consistency and quality.


    15. Cloud and Pour Point

    Combining a revolutionary patented built-in cooling system and highly precise detection mechanism, ISLs CPP 5Gs performs pour and cloud point testing of any petroleum products, down to -95C (-139F), in accordance with all the international standards. Its unique cooling technology eliminates external liquid connections, heat, and noise, but also the maintenance associated with external cooling.


    16. FPP 5Gs - Cold Filter Plugging Point

    Ultra low temperature cold behavior testing -- powerful, portable. The FPP 5Gs is the first portable automated Cold Filter Plugging Point (CFPP) instrument that strictly conforms with IP, EN and JIS test methods. Fully self-contained with its own built-in cooling system, this instrument achieves cooling temperatures down to 69C without any external liquid connection.


    17. Drop Volume Analyser DVA-1

    Classical method to measure the surface and interfacial tension of liquids. Principle is based on the accurate determination of the volume of drops detaching from circular capillaries. Fast drop formation


    18. Oil Content Analyzer Horiba OCMA-310

    The new OCMA-310 Oil Content Analyzer can assess the amount of trace hydrocarbons in soil or water, as well as check for residual hydrocarbons on pre-cleaned products. The pyro-electric sensor gives a full dynamic range from 0-200 mg/L. This eliminates the need for range-switching and provides fast, accurate measurements for all types of samples, regardless of concentration levels.


    19. 6200 Isoperibol Calorimeter

    Model 6200 is a microprocessor controlled, isoperibol oxygen bomb calorimeter which is widely used for both routine and occasional calorific tests. It can achieve the highest level of precision and accuracy of any oxygen bomb calorimeter and conforms to all standards. It is a good choice for high precision quality control work and for research and development.


    20. BA100 dielectric oil tester

    The BA100 dielectric oil tester is a portable Breakdown Analyzer for on-site testing of transformer oil. The test voltage is automatically controlled and increased to a maximum level of up to 100 kV rms. Flashover voltage is measured with an accuracy of ±1 kV over the whole voltage range. The extremely short switch off time at flash over is below 5 μs. Thus the pollution of the oil by the electric arc is negligible. In addition, this allows nondestructive testing of synthetic oil, ester oil and silicone oil.


    21. OptiDist Automated Atmospheric Distillation Analyzer

    Fully Automated Distillation of Petroleum Products including Biofuels offering the highest level of precision and ease of use ever seen in an instrument of this type.
